Sundance is a gaited buckskin horse born in 2006. He is a leader in the herd. Therapy work comes naturally to him, when we are with the horses, they consider us as part of their herd. His favorite treat is crunchy granola bars.
Texas is a paint horse born in 2008. He is one of our rescues. He had to learn to trust people. Through time he became a reliable member of the Arise team. Texas enjoys therapy. He has lameness challenges that need extra care.
Jericho is the newest member of our herd! He was born 24 April 2022 to Sheba. As a foal, Jericho is learning about the world and is slowly being introduced to therapy sessions. He is curious and loves to play.
Sampson is a Rocky Mountain Horse born in 2016. He is one of our rescues that came to Arise as an untouched 2 year old. His sensitive nature shows in his therapy work and helps relate to others.
Beach Boy is a Kentucky Mountain Horse born in 2006. He had a show horse career and has been a lesson horse for many people. He has a silly side to his personality that fits his name.
Satire is a Rocky Mountain horse born in 1998. She has had a show career along with being a "go to" lesson horse to countless learners. Her maturity shows a sense of knowing that comes through in her therapy work.
Major is a Foxtrotter horse born in 2007 and was generously donated by Jilly Berger. He is newer to our program, but quickly became a trusted partner in therapy. He is curious and loves attention.
Charlie is a paint miniature donkey born in 2014. She was part of a petting zoo before becoming part of our herd. Charlie is friendly and strong willed as donkeys tend to be, which brings a dynamic useful in therapy. She may greet you with a "Hee-Haw" at the stables.
Perfect is a miniature horse born in 2011. She is one of our ambassadors and makes appearances at locations such as schools, Scott Air Force Base and fundraising events. She is often in Growth and Learning sessions with children and in EAP sessions. Perfect really does live up to her name.
Amazing, "Mazie", is a miniature Zebu cow born in 2020. She came to Arise when she was a few weeks old and was bottle fed. She is friendly and curious towards people. The Zebu add a different dynamic to therapy since bovine behave differently than horses.
Grace, "Gracie", is a miniature Zebu cow born in 2020. She came to Arise along with Mazie and was bottle fed. Grace is more shy than Mazie which brings contrast to sessions for participants.
Our chickens provide fresh eggs and opportunities for children to learn about farm life in Growth and Learning sessions. One of our flock, Linda, has decided the barn is her roost and often joins in sessions. The flock loves mealworms.
